You the Intrapreneur

DESIGN your own entrepreneurial education

Why?

You the Project

You the Intrapreneur is one of the You the Projects. You the Intrapreneur is recommended if a school is considering introducing an entreprenasium. A course for You the Intrapreneur is available at the Virtual Learning Environment of the entreprenasium. The introduction of You the Intrapreneur is supported by Education Architects. Providing enterprising education appeals to a certain attitude, skills and knowledge. Recognizing and developing talents is required. Combined with discovering passions for certain roles or challenges, the school makes optimal use of these talents. You the Intrapreneur takes these differences into account.

Professionalization

If a school wants to introduce entrepreneurial education in school, this offers for the entrepreneurial teachers (intrapreneurs):

  • the freedom and the scope to tackle a large part of the teaching task in a personal and individual way.
  • an appropriate challenge to make something attractive for entrepreneurial education.
  • the possibility to let students shine through themselves.
  • different career paths.

Dreamschool

We make education together. Reason enough to involve everyone in a way that does justice to the views, passions and talents of everyone. This does not require colleagues to judge or judge colleagues. Understanding for objections, a warm approach when emotions play up and are open, help to bridge the gap. To come to an exploration of each other's pains and wishes and to strive to take each other into account as much as possible. Searching for shared total solutions instead of weak compromises or hard choices. This challenge is asked of each participant.

What?

Project goals

  • 'Main goal' : train teachers from a school step by step in entrepreneurial education
  • 'Strategy' : develop education by teacher and student together
  • 'Yield' : improve the (entrepreneurial) education step by step annually.

Learning objectives

The participants learn:

  • to give their own subject in an alternative way. The subject teacher must therefore be aware of the learning objectives of his course with regard to all years of study. The student will have to base a project on a number of these subject-specific learning goals. That is why it is highly advisable to provide the students with the learning objectives for the entire year or even for the coming years.
  • thinking in terms of concepts according to the CoCoN methodology.
  • to share the entrepreneurial education</ b> with colleagues and to give them the feeling that they work together.
  • <b> how to overcome resistance among critical colleagues, for example by showing them what they already have, like and already doing in the field of entrepreneurial education. What can you do with that tomorrow to stay happy in entrepreneurial education.
  • to have knowledge of modern media. This is a valuable tool for the pupil and subject teacher to be able to communicate with each other. The subject teacher will discuss with the student how the project can be followed. Internet then has a preference. A way in which the subject teacher can keep an eye on the student is possible via an internet site, twitter, blog etc.
  • to identify the learning objectives of students. This means that a subject teacher knows what a good learning goal is. It is a tool for the subject teacher and student to determine whether things are going well.
  • closely follow the process regarding the development of the learning objectives. After completing a learning activity, the subject teacher can assess whether the learning objectives have been achieved. If the subject teacher does his job well, he or she will be able to adjust the pupil in time if there is a risk of straying.
  • let go of its own structure. The student determines the route and not the subject teacher. Listening is a characteristic associated with coaching. During interviews, a subject teacher must be able to stimulate the student to come up with a good project and encourage them to close the project well.

Design

Intrapreneurs can jointly organize design sessions to work together with pupils and school management on joint and personal challenges regarding entrepreneurial education and reflect on them. Since the enterprising student prefers to design their own education, enterprising pupils will regularly continue to actively join in to support the teachers outside these sessions.

Who?

Organizers

The following skills are requested from the organizers for this project:

  • Recognizes opportunities and knows how to actually use these opportunities.
  • Takes initiative and challenges others to do the same.
  • Appears for himself, his colleagues and students.
  • Use (will) strength and perseverance to promote and produce entrepreneurial education.
  • Shows creativity by coming together with others to innovative insights, solutions, arrangements and projects for the benefit of entrepreneurial education.

Teachers

The enterprising teachers come from all disciplines: from English to geography and from chemistry to economics. First of all, they are expected to have a certain passion for entrepreneurial education and to be able to deal with an entrepreneurial attitude of pupils. Furthermore, they must be able to deal adequately with the students' proposals. The word intrapreneur is a combination of the words intra - to indicate that it concerns activities within (the walls of) their own organization - and entrepreneur, to indicate that it is about behaving as an entrepreneur. This means that the intrapreneurs themselves can indicate their learning needs and come up with initiatives for the design of the project.

Schoolleaders

The school management is involved by the entrepreneurial teachers in making appointments, implementing and sharing important educational ideas. It is expected of the school management that new interesting educational suggestions are strategically anchored in the vision, mission and strategy of the school. Through the project You the intrapreneur the ambitions of the school are linked to the personal ambitions of the teachers. In addition, serving leadership is expected from the school management to support and promote entrepreneurial teacher behavior.

How?

Organization

A team of enterprising pupils and teachers prepare this Hackathon, inform and train the other participants, organize the Hackathon and the final event and ensure that a jury is formed from the school management. The best products are implemented school-wide by the school management. The entrepreneurial students can be supported by the course

  • Metacognition,
  • Self-conscious and
  • Planning,

the entrepreneurial teachers through the course

  • Intrapreneur

and the school management through the course

  • Design

all of which can be found at the VLE of the entreprenasium.

Organized growth

The development of entrepreneurial teachers within a school (after possible external support to an enterprising team) by a team of its own to other supporters of enterprising education and then by these supporters to the rest of the subject teachers of their own section. For You the Intrapreneur is the same as for all You the Projects, it is reciprocal and not intended as an one-off. Every year the number of participating lecturers will grow and together they will jointly design new parts of the entrepreneurial education and add them to the curriculum of the school. In the case of a entreprenasium this means that new entreprenasium components will be added continuously.

Hack the Education

All of the above can be achieved through three main steps; organizing a hackathon "Hack the Education", an event where the results are shared with the school and the implementation in the school of the best ideas. The setup is as follows. Each class or level / school year of a school or a group of collaborating schools,

  1. Dreams about how education can be improved,
  2. Dare to make a concrete proposal to the school management,
  3. Do work out the proposal with a team of students selected by the class, supplemented with a teacher or team leader and possibly an external education expert,
  4. Dragging on during a Hackathon "Hack education" so that the selection team comes with a finished product,
  5. Distributes this product during an event (for example, an education conference) with the rest of the school.
